Education and What it Mean

Do you know that the quality of your education determines your performance in any exam [WAEC, Post-UTME, SAT etc.] To be candid, what you known will always reflect on how you think (how you see exam questions), what you write (how you solve questions) and how you write (work presentation). The level of your success in any exams depends largely, on the amount of information you know or that your school provides and you accept.

Education in Nigeria and other countries of the world is a shadow of what it ought to be. Educate is derived from a Latin word ’Educo’ meaning to educate, to draw out, to develop from within. This definition shows that education is more of the mind than of the papers.

Longman dictionary define Education as the process by which you develop your mind through learning at school, college or university. Education is meant to give you the latest information about your desired area of study which you must use to develop your mind.

This is the greatest jest student miss. Passing exam is more of the mind power than of the brain power. The brain power is when you cram as many things as possible to download it back to your teachers. But higher institution entry exams like Post-UTME, SAT test you on how well and fast you can arrange old concepts, ideas and knowledge gained in class to solve questions.

Furthermore, when you take a look at the work place you will notice that qualified minds are needed not qualify brains. The brain is mortal so it is limited to what it has been taught, but the mind is immortal always able to perform according to the extent of your imagination.

My message to you is that, don’t just acquire knowledge but let the process of acquiring knowledge stimulate your mind toward development and expansion of mindset. Be informed, but let that information make you better…

Don't Cry for Me Jamb/WEAC

Hey! I found this  great Article www.punchng.com/i-punch/dont-cry-for-me-waec/

This  Nigeria Punch Newspaper columnist Sola Fagborusi gave statistic that is quite worrisome about the downward performance of our students in WAEC/NECO/UTME over the years. We can only hope our student perform better this year or we do something about it.

I believe we need a new approach to solve this mass failure in WAEC/UTME especially as JAMB 2015 draws closer. I like the approach Magbodo(Don't get Zeros) try to use to address this problem.

They help student experience JAMB 2015 computer based test (CBT) in a relax fun-filled gaming environment. Any serious minded student should practice CBT here and get ranked against other students.

Magbodo Business Summary

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Problem
Poor Academic Performance!
Nigeria is battling with mass failure and poor academic performance especially from secondary school students who participate in WAEC and UTME. Quoting Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, Registrar of JAMB, “1,015,504 candidates registered for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2014 with only 47 candidates scored 250 points and above while 108,488 candidates scored between 200 to 249 points out of total score of 400 points”( www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Admissions_and_Matriculation_board, 2014).

This poor performance is unacceptable which in the long run affects National productivity. The current education system approach has proven faulty in resolving this issue over the years.

It also no gain saying that young Nigerians attention has drifted towards other things apart from academics. Being studious in academic is no longer fashionable, student just find various wrong means to pass without interest in understanding the course of study. These trends have been enforced over the years with the advent of electronic media and internet which gives unlimited access to pure entertainments, sports and lots more.

The traditional means of learning in a rigid classroom is now boring and no longer effective to student that has already been over-exposed to fun and entertainment. This is a new challenge definitely needs a new approach to make learning more effective.
